1. All participating clubs shall have paid their annual team fees to the Highlands and Islands Squash Association.
2. Teams shall be composed of four players (male or female) who shall be bona fide members of the club whom they represent. A match is defined as the contest between two teams, and a tie is the contest between two players. A tie shall be best of five games,
British scoring to 9 receiver to decide Set 1 or Set 2 if tied 8 all.
- Premier League teams only:-
- Point a Rally to 11, 2 clear.
- Divisions 1, 2 and 3 will play:-
- British Scoring to 9 set 2.
NB - It is 2 clear points, NOT set 2.
3. Having represented one club, a player is not eligible to play for any other club in the League during the remainder of that season. A player may represent only one team on any match night. (See rule 4)
4. Captains will exchange team orders before the match commences. Team order should be that of ability. All ties shall be played in reverse order unless mutually agreed by both team captains. The correct procedure if one of the first four players fails to turn up is that the tie must be conceded to the opposing fourth string and the other players should move up in order. For clubs with more than one team in a division there are two options. The first option is for a pool system where the club splits their teams in any way they chose. If a player who was not previously assigned to a team represents any one team on three occasions that player then becomes tied to that team for the remainder of the season. The second option is for teams to operate on a strict ladder basis. Clubs must declare their option prior to the season commencing.
5. Matches shall be played on a home and away basis throughout a season.
6. Matches must be played on the evenings published unless mutually agreed by both team captains and the League Secretary; however, the match must be played on another evening of the same week, a week will be a Mon -Sun. The match must be played during the course of one day and at the correct venue. The away captain must make every effort to contact the home captain at least two days before the fixture to check on court arrangements and to confirm time of arrival which should be as close to 7.00pm as possible. A minimum of two players of corresponding ranking must be ready to play at 7.15pm.
7. Each team shall start the season with one 'joker'. The 'joker' system allows a once per season opportunity to re-arrange a match without penalty. A walk-over against the defaulting team will be awarded should the re-arranged match not take place within the season. The season shall be a calendar period of time decided on by the League Secretary prior to the League commencing. Twelve points will be awarded for a walkover.
8. Results will be co-ordinated by the League Secretary. Results must be reported to the League Secretary, by e-mail or phone a maximum of 48 hours after the match. The result card will be sent to the League Secretary by the home team to arrive within five working days of the match. There will be a penalty deduction of one point from the home team should a result not be communicated in time.
9. In calculating League positions points are awarded as follows; every game won scores one point. Thus a team winning all four ties would collect twelve points. In the event of a tie for promotion or relegation a decision shall be made based on:-
- Firstly:-
- Points difference as per league table.
Secondly should (i) also be a tie - - Combined head-to-head result(s) of the two teams concerned.
Thirdly should (i) and (ii) also be a tie - - Play-Off at a venue to be decided by Lge Committee.
- Points difference as per league table.
10. Any disputes shall be referred, by e-mail, to the League Secretary, who shall arbitrate in the matter. A club will have the right of appeal to the Association Management Committee against the League Secretary's decision. The Management Committee's decision will be final and binding.
11. Ties shall be according to "The Rules of Squash - Singles", according to World Squash Federation Rules.
12. Black double yellow dot balls will be used in the League unless both players agree otherwise. The home team must have two new balls available for every match.
13. The League Secretary will publish match results and league tables at appropriate intervals.
