::JUNIORS

14-15/11/09 - Junior Inter-Regional Champs, Heriot Watt University

The Inter-Regional Squash Championships held at Heriot Watt University was another success story for the Highlands & Islands region.

The U19 of Greg Lobban, Ewan Urquhart, Ally McCorquodale, Kyle Bruce and Anna MacLeod were dominant in this group with very few losses, but some of the finest squash of the weekend being produced by this squad.

The U17 of Jamie Henderson, Kyle Gribben, Allan McKay, Micheal Ross, Kirsty Delaney and Stephaine Campbell were very much in the hunt for 1st place as well but the big battle was against old rivals Grampian Region. The contest was touch and go but Grampian were just too strong with Chris Leiper in control against our Jamie Henderson, who put up a great effort.

The U15 of Fergus Richards, Gary Beales, Owen Harrold, Martin Ross and Kirsty Lobban were just to strong all the way through the squad for the other regions to touch them. Some excellent performances by the squad with Fergus leading the way by beating other players he had not in previous tournaments.

The U13 of Dylan Hutchison, Jordan Geddes, Ewan Hearns, Sean Kelly and Charlotte Mackay put up a good fight as this was the first tournament for half of the team. Next Year Guys.

The U11 of Ross Henderson, Alistair Hambrey, Ally Prott, Mark Kynoch and Katie Gregson-MacLeod were a delight to watch. All put up great performances during the compitition but it was Ally Prott and Katie Gregson-Macleod matches at the end of the tournament that had the whole squad cheering the two 8 year olds on to finish a great weekend with two wins. Great Matches.

A big thank You to our sponsors, HSBS Building Supplies and The Highlands & Islands Squash Assc for their support.

Lastly, a mega Thank You to all the Mums and Dads for all there support, to Carol Lobban and Elaine Gribben for sorting the accommodation and the Coaches of James Henderson, Garry McKay, Jamie Mackay, John Kynoch and Jean Murray for all the support over the weekend. See you all next Year.
